This is an original 1983 Soviet naval propaganda poster, published by Издательство «Плакат» (Plakat Publishing House), Moscow — the central Soviet institution for the production of visual agitation materials — and designed by D. Ivanov (Д. Иванов).

The composition is warm and confident: a smiling young sailor of the Soviet Navy occupies the foreground, set against a stylised blue field of sea waves, the silhouette of a battleship, and the Ensign of the Soviet Navy. The headline reads: «Морские рубежи Отчизны защищены надёжно!» — The Maritime Borders of the Fatherland Are Securely Protected!

Produced in 1983 at the height of Cold War naval tensions — the same year the Soviet Navy shot down Korean Air Lines Flight 007 and Reagan announced the Strategic Defense Initiative — this poster served as visual agitation for the conscript generation guarding the USSR’s vast coastlines. With a print run of 62,000 copies, it was produced for mass display, yet surviving examples in good condition are increasingly uncommon.
